Description
Helicopter Winch Manikin
NATO stock number TBS
When using a helicopter to rescue someone who has been in the water for some time, it is important that they are hoisted in the correct manner to prevent heart problems associated with a sudden release of hydrostatic pressure.
It is preferable to raise the casualty horizontally to minimise the effect of water pressure, which is why we are pleased to work with the rescue experts at Bristow Helicopters (UK) to make changes to our popular Man Overboard model which will allow it to perform more accurately in a helicopter hoist scenario.
Features & Benefits
- Has lighter legs than the standard Man Overboard model, which means the legs float more easily when the harness/straps are mounted in water.
- The doll will sit in a stable “W” position while being lifted by the helicopter.
- Compatible with standard and hypothermic lifting straps.
- Buckle clips on the inside of the knees and ankles allow you to keep the legs together.
- The heavy nylon fabric allows water to penetrate quickly, allowing the legs to drop below the water surface, leaving only the head and shoulders visible if desired.
- Dry weight 40 kg (adult) increases to approximately 65 kg retrieval weight from water.
- Floats horizontally, vertically or at 45 degrees to simulate a living person or dead body - achieved by distributing foam pieces inside the overalls in a matter of seconds.
- Bright orange overalls and SOLAS reflective tape on the head make the dummy highly visible in open water.
- Strong ribbon loop on the back allows for easy handling, storage and suspension for drying.
- The soft feet are designed for quick drainage to prevent too much water in the helicopter.
- Comes complete with overalls and soft feet, which can be easily replaced if damaged.
