Decubitus Pressure Sore Trainer
Decubitus Pressure Sore Trainer
With the Decubitus Pressure Ulcer Trainer, nursing and medical students can learn about professional assessment (examination, measurement and description), wound care and dressing techniques in different stages of pressure ulcers. This training can significantly improve standards of recognition and care of pressure ulcers in real patients.
The material from the Decubitus Pressure Ulcer Trainer is flexible and can help provide realistic training in changing and donning dressings and bandages, which form a significant part of nursing and wound care. The following stages of decubitus are shown on the trainer:
Pressure ulcer category 1 (trochanter/femur - right)
On the thigh, you can see category 1 of decubitus: there is redness, but the skin is intact.
Decubitus category 2 (buttocks - right)
In the sacrum area (Os sacrum) Partial skin loss is visible: the outer skin (epidermis) shows signs of damage extending into the dermis (corium). The superficial pressure injury shown may manifest itself through the development of blisters and skin abrasions.
Decubitus category 3 (buttocks - left)
In the lower left part of the buttocks, category 3 of decubitus can be seen: recognized by the loss of all layers of skin with damage to the subcutaneous tissue through necrosis. This can be recognized by the black color of the wound area.
Pressure ulcer category 4 (trochanter/femur - left, sacrum)
A severe category 4 pressure ulcer is presented on the left femur (trochanter major) and on the sacrum (os sacrum): all layers of skin and muscle fascia have been destroyed. Necrotic areas are marked in black. The muscles and bones beneath this layer are also affected. This injury may become necrotic. Supporting structures such as tendons, ligaments or joint structures may also be affected.
