Episiotomy and Suturing Trainer
Birth simulation model to improve clinical skills: Episiotomy and Suturing Trainer provides realistic help to practice closing birth injuries after vaginal births. Medical staff (midwives and doctors) need to be continuously trained in the diagnosis and care of birth injuries. With this trainer, the following birth injuries can be observed and demonstrated.
Episiotomy, for example:
- Median episiotomy
- Mediolateral episiotomy
- Lateral episiotomy
- Vaginal tears
- Labial tears
To make the care and closure of these birth wounds as realistic as possible, the following muscle structures can be palpated and sutured in the perineal area:
- M. sphincter ani externus (external anal sphincter muscle)
- M. transversus perinei superficialis (superficial transverse perineal muscle)
- M. bulbospongiosus (bulbospongiosus muscle)
Muscle and skin layers can be sewn separately.
Each clip can be sutured multiple times; by repeating the procedure, midwifery and obstetrics students learn about professional wound management. Suturing technique can be recorded and assessed by instructors so that students can improve, and students can practice again after the sutures have been removed. The material used to simulate the tissue feels realistic and is easy to keep clean. The complete trainer does not take up much space. The adjustable holder for the simulated tissue stands firmly on the table without slipping. The insert can be removed from the holder and then worked on while it is on the table. This tissue insert can be purchased individually or in packs of 5.
