BluePhantom Replacement Tissue for Thoracentesis Ultrasound Training Model

BluePhantom's thoracentesis replacement tissue insert is designed for use with BluePhantom's thoracentesis and thoracostomy training model (P/N BPTT1000-1). It allows users to develop and practice the skills needed to achieve competence in ultrasound-guided identification and needle/catheter insertion in patients with pleural effusion.

The ultrasound tissue module includes the chest wall, pleural cavity, lung, atelectatic lung, ribs, and a series of pleural fluid-filled pockets—designed for guiding needles and small catheters (18–21 gauge). BluePhantom’s simulated human tissue is extremely realistic and ultra-durable, excellent for repeated practice of psychomotor skills related to ultrasound-guided thoracentesis. Small, medium, and large pleural fluid pockets provide a training environment for both novice and experienced ultrasound users. Positive fluid flow gives users feedback when pleural effusion is correctly accessed. The fluid is easily refilled via the QuickFill luer lock.
