BluePhantom Replacement Tissue for Femoral Vascular Access

BluePhantom’s femoral vascular access replacement tissue is designed for use with our lower torso femoral vascular ultrasound training model (BPF-1410). The insert is constructed of BluePhantom’s ultra-durable and self-healing tissue. Cannulate the femoral vessels with needles and catheters more than 1,000 times without replacement of the tissue (recommended needle and catheter sizes: 18-21 gauge needles and 7Fr triple lumen catheters). For additional training options, users can choose to add a deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in the femoral vein and/or add the femoral nerve for ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia. Our patented tissue is extremely realistic – both in ultrasound imaging and in feel similar to real human tissue.

Quality and self-healing tissue at a low cost of ownership

BluePhantom’s femoral vascular ultrasound training model allows users to develop and practice the skills necessary to gain proficiency in ultrasound-guided needle and catheter insertion into the femoral artery and vein. The model is excellent for training clinicians in the psychomotor skills required for ultrasound-guided vascular access procedures – including the use of ultrasound equipment, transducer positioning, recognition of arterial and venous anatomy, and performing vascular access procedures.

Extremely realistic and durable

The replacement tissue offers anatomically correct vascular anatomy of the lower torso including the femoral vein and artery. The vessels support full threading of guidewires and catheters. Positive fluid flow in the vessels provides users with immediate feedback upon successful vascular access. The simulated blood in the arterial and venous system differs in color, allowing users to easily distinguish between successful and unsuccessful vascular access. The model functions optimally with any ultrasound system equipped with a suitable transducer (recommended: high-frequency linear array probe 5.0–12 MHz).

Choose the correct replacement tissue

The femoral replacement inserts are available in three pump configurations – no pump, hand pump, and automatic pump. The pump configuration simulates arterial pulsation in the training model. Choose the same configuration as your current model to ensure a correct fit.
