Blue Phantom ultrasound training model for paracentesis

Blue Phantom's paracentesis ultrasound training model is designed to help clinicians use ultrasound to recognize intraperitoneal fluid collections and develop the psychomotor skills associated with ultrasound-guided paracentesis procedures. The excellent realism helps users learn to identify relevant anatomy and guide needle and catheter placement in the mid-abdominal region of a patient with intraperitoneal fluid similar to hemoperitoneum, ascites, or other pathological scenarios. Ultrasound skills trained include: using ultrasound system settings, transducer positioning and movement, recognizing the liver, intestines, and intraperitoneal fluid collections, and real-time guidance of the needle towards the target fluid.

Housed in an adult human torso, the paracentesis ultrasound module contains the right lobe of the liver, small intestine, and a range of fluid pockets of varying sizes from small to large – allowing users to begin training with larger fluid pockets and gradually work down to smaller ones.
